A UU Bible Study Weekly Podcast
Join Rev. Samuel Felderman and Dr. Michele Townsend Grove as we honor and explore Rev. Dr. Wilda C. Gafney's A Women's Lectionary for the Whole Church: Year W. Starting in November, 2023, we will gather each week to read, reflect and dialogue on Rev. Dr. Gafney's chosen texts and translations. Each week we will read the weekly Psalm from one of several translations AND from Rev. Dr. Gafney's translation as recorded in A Women's Lectionary for the Whole Church: Year W. We will then read and dialogue on the Hebrew text from each week's lectionary. Rev. Dr. Wilda C. Gafney brings named and unnamed women of the bible to the forefront in Year W. Samuel and Michele will explore these women, the text and the complicated beauty within their stories.
Both Michele and Samuel identify as white and cis-gendered. As we bring awareness and awe to theologians, academics and religious leaders from a wide away of IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Color) communities, we hope to be a small part in shifting society's gaze to these great leaders who normally have to work harder to be recognized and credited for their amazing work.
In addition, we recognize that knowledge about these stories can equip all of us in understanding the divine as an image of love and inclusion and not a dictator of hate, violence, war and exclusion. It is our hope that everyone who listens to these podcasts find tools to disrupt current hate, violence and exclusion.
Thank you, Rev. Dr. Gafney and all the others noted in these podcasts for your valuable contributions to a dialogue of peace, inclusion and equality.
